Note: During the early to
mid 1700's only prominent people (principal men), for
the most part, would have had cloth (either obtained in trade or more likely as gifts).
The transition to wearing cloth began in the pre-Revolutionary War
period (around 1780). Wearing cloth became more common around the year 1812, when by that time leather clothing was only used
sparingly ~~ my thanks to the Six Nations people who brought to my attention the need to clarify this point.
